Ultimate Muffins Master Base (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Dry ingredients

01 - 2 1/4 cups (286 grams) all-purpose flour
02 - 1/2 cup (100 grams) granulated sugar
03 - 1/4 cup (50 grams) brown sugar
04 - 1/2 teaspoon fine salt
05 - 1 tablespoon baking powder

→ Wet ingredients

06 - 1 cup buttermilk, at room temperature
07 - 1 stick (113 grams) unsalted butter, melted and cooled
08 - 2 large eggs, at room temperature
09 - 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)

→ Optional toppings and add-ins

10 - Add-ins and flavorings of your choice (e.g., fruit, chocolate chips)
11 - Coarse or turbinado sugar, for sprinkling (optional)

# Instructions:

01 - Preheat the oven to 400°F. Position an oven rack to the upper third of the oven. Line a standard muffin tin with paper liners.
02 - In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, brown sugar, salt, and baking powder. Set aside.
03 - In a liquid measuring cup, beat together the buttermilk, melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract (if using). Pour into the dry ingredients and stir until only a few streaks of flour remain.
04 - Stir in any desired add-ins, such as fruit or chocolate chips.
05 - If time permits, cover the muffin batter and allow it to rest in the fridge for 1 hour or overnight. This will produce more moist, tender, and tall muffins.
06 - Divide the batter evenly among the muffin tin cups. Sprinkle each with coarse sugar, if desired.
07 - Bake until golden brown, and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean, about 16 to 18 minutes.

# Notes:

01 - Using real buttermilk will yield the best flavor and texture. Avoid DIY buttermilks for optimal results.
