Preheat oven to 175°C. Grease and flour a tube pan thoroughly.

In a large bowl, beat softened butter and granulated sugar together until pale and fluffy.

Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition until fully combined.

Gradually sift in flour, mixing on low speed and scraping down the sides as necessary until a smooth batter forms.

Transfer batter to the prepared tube pan and smooth the top. Bake for 60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Allow cake to cool in the pan for 10–15 minutes. Gently remove from the pan and transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.
