Garlic Butter Spaghetti with Herbs (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

01 - 8 oz spaghetti
02 - 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
03 - 6 cloves garlic, minced
04 - 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
05 - 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
06 - 1 tablespoon chopped fresh basil or 1 teaspoon dried basil
07 - Salt, to taste
08 - Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
09 - 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
10 - Juice of 1/2 lemon (optional)

# Instructions:

01 - Cook the spaghetti in a large pot of salted boiling water according to package directions until al dente. Reserve 1/2 cup of pasta water, then drain the rest.
02 - In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter.
03 - Add the minced garlic and red pepper flakes (if using) and sauté for 1–2 minutes, until fragrant.
04 - Add the cooked spaghetti to the skillet and toss to coat in the garlic butter sauce.
05 - Stir in the reserved pasta water a little at a time until the sauce reaches your desired consistency.
06 - Mix in the chopped parsley, basil, salt, and black pepper.
07 - Remove from heat and top with grated Parmesan cheese and a squeeze of lemon juice, if desired.
08 - Serve the dish while hot.

# Notes:

01 - You can make this dish vegan by using plant-based butter and omitting the Parmesan.
02 - Add grilled chicken, shrimp, or sautéed mushrooms for a more filling meal.
03 - For extra richness, incorporate a splash of heavy cream or olive oil.
