# Required Ingredients:

→ Main Components

01 - 2 tablespoons sunflower oil or unsalted butter
02 - 450 grams ground lamb or beef
03 - 1 cup (approx. 150 grams) onion, finely diced
04 - 1 cup (approx. 120 grams) carrot, finely diced
05 - 2 garlic cloves, minced
06 - 2 tablespoons tomato paste
07 - 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour (substitute gluten-free flour if required)
08 - 240 millilitres beef broth
09 - 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce (ensure gluten-free if needed)
10 - 1 teaspoon fresh rosemary, chopped (or 0.5 teaspoon dried rosemary)
11 - 1 teaspoon fresh thyme, chopped (or 0.5 teaspoon dried thyme)
12 - 2 bay leaves (optional)
13 - 1 cup (approx. 140 grams) green peas
14 - Salt, to taste
15 - Black pepper, to taste
16 - 4 cups (approx. 900 grams) freshly prepared mashed potatoes, hot

# How to Make It:

01 - Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground lamb or beef and cook, breaking it apart with a spatula, until evenly browned and fully cooked, about 7 to 10 minutes. Drain excess fat, leaving approximately 2 tablespoons in the pan.
02 - Add diced onion and carrot to the pan. Sauté over medium heat until the vegetables soften and become aromatic, about 5 to 7 minutes.
03 - Stir in minced garlic and tomato paste, mixing thoroughly. Sprinkle flour evenly over the mixture, stir again, and cook for 1 minute to eliminate raw flour flavor.
04 - Pour in beef broth and add the reserved cooked meat, Worcestershire sauce, chopped rosemary, chopped thyme, and bay leaves. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer and cook, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens, approximately 5 to 7 minutes.
05 - Remove bay leaves. Fold in the green peas and simmer for 1-2 minutes until heated through. Adjust seasoning with salt and black pepper to taste.
06 - Serve the savoury meat and vegetable sauce generously over hot mashed potatoes.

# Additional Information:

01 - For extra flavour, incorporate 115 grams of cooked chopped bacon, using bacon fat in place of oil if desired.
02 - To add texture, diced celery or mushrooms can be sautéed alongside the onions and carrots.
03 - Sweetcorn is a colourful addition; stir in with peas prior to serving.
04 - To deepen umami, consider adding a tablespoon of soy sauce or fish sauce prior to final seasoning.
05 - Prepare mashed potatoes according to preference; options include classic, cheddar, roasted garlic, or herb-infused styles.
