Turn on the oven to 350°F. Bake the thawed puff pastry sheets on trays for about 10 minutes or till they're golden. Let them cool.

Heat 3 cups of milk in a pot. Mix egg yolks with sugar until they look pale and creamy, then stir in flour, vanilla, rum, and the leftover cup of milk.

Combine the egg mixture with the hot milk and stir over heat till thick. Take off the stove.

Whip the egg whites till they hold stiff peaks. Gently fold them into the custard mix.

Place one puff pastry sheet into a dish and spread the prepared custard on top. Chill it for 1 to 2 hours.

Spread a layer of whipped cream, then top it with pastry squares. Let it chill for another 2 hours.
