01 - 450 grams ground beef (80/20 blend)
02 - 3 tablespoons taco seasoning (sugar-free or homemade)
03 - 160 millilitres heavy whipping cream
04 - 4 large eggs
05 - 80 millilitres chunky salsa
06 - 140 grams cheddar cheese, shredded (reserve 35 grams for topping)
07 - 0.5 teaspoon garlic salt or combination of salt and garlic powder
08 - 0.25 teaspoon ground black pepper

# How to Make It:

01 - Preheat oven to 175°C. Position oven rack in the centre. Grease a 23 cm pie dish and set aside.
02 - Brown ground beef in a skillet over medium heat, adding oil only if necessary to prevent sticking. Cook until no pink remains, then drain excess fat.
03 - Add taco seasoning to the cooked beef. Stir well to evenly coat the meat, then transfer mixture into the prepared pie dish.
04 - In a bowl, whisk together heavy cream and eggs. Incorporate salsa, 105 grams of shredded cheddar, garlic salt, and pepper until combined.
05 - Pour the egg and cream mixture evenly over the taco beef in the dish. Sprinkle the remaining 35 grams of shredded cheddar on top.
06 - Place pie dish uncovered in the oven. Bake for 35–40 minutes until the centre is set and the surface is golden brown.
07 - Allow the pie to cool for 5 minutes before slicing. Add optional garnishes as desired such as sour cream, salsa, cilantro, chives, avocado, tomatoes, or olives.

01 - For a lighter version, substitute ground turkey or chicken, or reduce the amount of cheddar cheese.
02 - Shredding cheese from a block lowers carbohydrate content and avoids additives found in pre-grated varieties.
